Chairman’s Welcome & Introduction
- Paul Berriman has been the Chief Technology Officer of PCCW Limited since May 2007. Formerly he was Head of Strategic Market Development and prior to that, Senior Vice President of Strategy and Marketing. He is in charge of the Technology Strategy and Development team which is responsible for product development management, billing and operational support systems development, overall service quality, technology strategy, vision and innovation across the telecommunications and media businesses of the PCCW Group. Most recently he has led fixed and wireless projects in Hong Kong and overseas including the successful now TV broadband IPTV service in Hong Kong, and PCCW’s Next Generation Network (NGN) programme and UK Broadband Wireless Project. Prior to joining PCCW in July 2002, he was Managing Director of Arthur D Little’s Hong Kong office and earlier with his own consulting business, Contactica, which he sold to Arthur D Little in 1999. Previously he held executive technical, engineering and operations management roles in New World Telephone, Reuters, HongKong Telecom CSL and the Hong Kong Telephone Company.
- Andreas Mueller-Schubert brings more than 12 years of telecommunications experience to his
current role as General Manager of Global Solutions for Microsoft’s Connected TV Business Group.
In this position, Mueller-Schubert is responsible for the deployment of all worldwide customer IPTV
projects based on the Microsoft Mediaroom software platform. He is responsible for directing
approximately 170 solution experts worldwide and for managing the business’s internal and external
system integrator partners within their customer deployment sector.
Prior to joining Microsoft in 2006, Mueller-Schubert served in several senior management positions within Siemens’ telecommunications division in Germany and Canada. He is most notably recognized for initiating the Siemens’ telecommunication business in Canada. - Franz Kurath leads broadband content programming efforts for AT&T’s Converged Services. Previously, Mr. Kurath was responsible for business development for AT&T’s U-verse IPTV service, focusing on interactive advertising, audience measurement, on-demand content and applications. His background includes both traditional and new media with over 15 years of studio, network and service provider experience. At AT&T, Mr. Kurath is responsible for broadband content strategy and licensing for AT&T’s online properties as well as premium TV services on U-verse. Before joining AT&T, Mr. Kurath spent six years at The WB Television Network, leading both the On- Air Design and New Media groups. He was responsible for managing the network’s broadcast and online brand, launching the network’s Internet presence, and producing a number of interactive television applications. Mr. Kurath produced program segments for the animated television series “The Real Adventures of Jonny Quest” while at Hanna-Barbera,. During his time at Paramount Pictures, he produced broadcast graphics and effects for network television. Mr. Kurath began his career at TBWA Chiat/Day inc. Advertising.
- Robert C. McIntyre currently serves as chief technical officer of Cisco’s Service Provider Group. Previously chief technical officer for Scientific Atlanta, a Cisco Company, McIntyre’s newly extended role will enable him to leverage the synergies of Scientific Atlanta and Cisco intellectual capital and integrated end-to-end technology portfolio to improve the overall service velocity of the ‘quad play’ for service providers and the industry. McIntyre began his career at Scientific Atlanta in 1991 and has held significant leadership roles in the company’s Transmission and Subscriber businesses. While leading the Subscriber business, his team designed the first real-time digital TV systems and held the first digital TV field trials over Hybrid Fiber Coax (HFC). Bob was named Chief Technical Officer in 1999.
