ITU-T’s Next-Generation Wired Networking Standard and the IPTV Revolution
Tuesday 23rd March 2010

Hosted by: HomeGrid Forum

The United Nation’s ITU-T is completing its next-generation wired home networking standard. Called G.hn, this standard is expected to have a significant impact on IPTV deployments. G.hn will simplify networking of content, including high-definition video, and devices over any wire  – phone line, power line and coax cable. Using the technology, service providers will be able to deploy new offerings including IPTV more cost effectively. Electronics manufacturers will be able to provide powerful devices for connecting all types of entertainment, home automation, and security products throughout the house. And consumers will be able to simplify their home networking decisions and implementations.

This session will provide an overview of the G.hn and its applications, discuss key components of the standard (including Physical and Data Link Layers, and coexistence mechanisms), and cover what service providers and network equipment manufacturers need to know to implement and deploy this technology.
